Subject: [CB] New sarrusophones

Just ran across a page while web surfing (http://www.internationalfilmmusicservices.com/ifms.playerofmonth1.htm) which mentions that Eppelsheim (inventor of the tubax) has now made a CC contrabass sarrusophone, with redesigned fingerings.  From the page, it appears that it may have been used for the soundtrack of "The Mummy Returns."  Has anyone heard the soundtrack?

-OK, our next trip is now planned: we've committed to the "1,000
-Saxophones on the Great Wall of China" trip next May (see
-http://www.nuclearwhales.com/china.htm).  Even paid the deposit.  Now
-the question is which horn to bring: will they take a sarrusophone to
-help out in the contrabass register, or should I bring the sopranino
-for ease in carry-on?...

-Anybody else planning to attend?

Yup, I'm hoping to go,  though I still need to sign up officially.
I'm planning on playing bass sax, though if I have a flightworthy case by
then, I may be crazy enough to bring the contrabass instead...

It'll be great to meet in person anyone from this list who can go!

Bass Drum? Are drummers needed for this gig?  If so, then who knows - I might look into attending!

The one that works best for you, of course.  (Didn't we just get into this
on the Bass Clarinet group? *smirk* )

AFAIK, opinion is divided between the Buffet and the Selmer.  You'll
probably want to try out both, and see which suits your needs best.
Leblanc also has a low C model, but I can't say that I've tried any
of them recently (and I haven't played the low C Selmer for about 25
years).
