Reply-To: contrabass@contrabass.com

I have been  getting e-mail from CONTRABASS for  about a yr now,and I
have not properly introduced myself. My name is Lawrence Johns, and
music is my love and hobby. I am 49 yrs old and live in Richmond,
Virginia. I started playing song tonette in the 4th grade, took up the
alto sax in the 5th grade, and in the 9th grade I took up the baritone
sax as well as the alti in the cadet band. I ended up being the Ist lt
or the executive officer of the band. I was in all state band for my
last 2 yrs of high school, and was 1st chair bari sax both yrs.All state
band asked for 3 bari sax chairs, and i got 1st chair each time. After
school, I learned the bass clarinet and clarinet. I taught myself the
guitar, mandolin, dobro, xylophone, marimba and vibraphone while in college
studying psychology, political science and human biology. After college I
got into rehab work. My love for music has never in any way diminished.
I know how to play efficiently about 20 different musical instruments.
My favorite musical instrument is the bass sax,and i am working towards
owning either a conn, selmer or keilwerth bass sax. I also would love to
own a Eb contraalto clarinet. My cd interests include the love of 1920's
jazz and love the Adrian Rollini bass sax sound. I have a number of the
cds featuring him in the groups California Ramblers, Little
Ramblers,Goofus Five and The Fred Elizalde Orchestra. I am also
interested in the purchasing of the Nuclear Whales Sax Orchestra cds. I
was always considered a better player of the lower pitched instruments,
and pretty much shine on the bari and on the bass when i can get my
hands on one. I love variety in music so i am not in just one genre of
music. Well that is I in a nutshell.
If you have questions about me, just ask me and i will answer. My
nickname off the line is Larry but on the line it is Larriman.
               Catch you later
                    Larriman

I've played a didgeridoo before (a small one).  It's so fun.  I have a
goatee and the wax got on the hair right below my lip.  That was kind of
irritating, but the sound is amazing.

I don't think I ever have properly introduced myself either.

My name is Spencer Parks.  I am 19 years old living in Evanston, Illinois
(the first suburb north of Chicago).

I started with music when I was about six or seven with the piano.  In 4th
grade I learned the clarinet.  In 5th grade I went to the alto sax.  6th
grade-the bari sax.  11th grade-bass sax.  I'm still playing (sometimes).
I'm in the Jazz ensemble in Columbia College in Chicago.  I still play the
piano (not great) on my own.  I have the whole Moonlight Sonata memorized.

On a non-music note:
I make stop-motion animations.  That's what I'm at school for.
I love it.  I'm also interested in puppetry.

That's about it.

You can talk to me about anything (ilylamp@hotmail.com)

Note that a contrabasse a anche has just been posted on ebay - the post
says it's "sarrusophone-like", a meter long, and Italian made.

As long as we're doing introductions and re-introductions I may as well do mine:  I am a composer, currently living in Fort Worth, Texas. I used to play trombone with occasional excursions into sackbuts and euphonium. My compositions include several featuring unusual instruments, and my recordings include a madrigal with alto and bass flutes (Vienna Modern Masters VMM-2008) as well as a concerto for clarinet and bass clarinet(VMM-2038).
