Subject: Another
contrabass flute...
Hi,
For contrabass flute fans, I just ran across another image of someone playing a Kotato contrabass on the web, at http://www.ultranet.com/~krs/contra.htm . The flautist playing it here said:
>The instrument belongs to the director of the Thayer
>Conservatory Flute Choir at Atlantic Union College. It's not hard to get
>a sound out of, but my teacher played it for part of a flute orchestra
>concert and she felt like she was going to pass out afterwards. Paige,
>the owner, plays it all the time with her group and is used to it. I'm
>amazed at how well it carries. I played in a flute orchestra last year
>with about 115 flutists and the contrabass could be heard over everyone.
>It is a Kotato. Paige got in some car accident years ago and got a big
>settlement, so she bought her own contrabass. For awhile it was the only
>one in North America, but I think they're more common now.
