I made a similar instrument. First, for a class, I made a
type of Blue Man Group PVC instrument that was just a C major
scale. Pretty simple. I bolted them with U-bolts to a 2x4
and set the thing on a ledge going into our basement (where I lived at
the time). I also have made a few didjeridus with PVC and when I
bought the materials, I also bought some curve attachments that I could
add on and change the shape, size, and pitch. Very fun to play
with. When I bought the materials for the BMG inst., I bought
enough PVC to make two octaves, but never got around to doing that so I
had some pretty big lengths left over in a closet. I decided to
add not only the extra pieces, but also a 4' didjeridu at the end of
the longest tube of the instrument on the ledge with my curved
attachments. I think it ended up being at 20', although if
could've been more. Of course, I couldn't even get the
fundamental note when playing it like a didj, but when I hit the other
end of it, it made an excellent PVC sound. One day, I would like
to make it again. He's right. It is easy.
