Dear list,
A friend of mine is selling some "bizarre"
instruments:
- BUFFET Contrabass Clarinet Metal #19145 (1950- possibly a
prototype) MINT CONDITION. Was in the Monke Factory Museum in Germany.
- Also SELMER "JAZZ-O-SAX", double wall construction, in
mint condition).
- Also, Uebel Bass clarinet prototype from the 1950s with solid
aluminum body, mint condition
- Also, wooden (maple?) bass oboe, ORSI circa 1895 (?) with
upturned metal bell, excellent condition. Probably "high pitch", and
like would need a custom bocal to be usable (T. Hiniker can make a
bocal for this bass oboe).
My friend is in no rush to sell any of these...
I suspect that the Buffet contra should realize a minimum of
$9900. Truly an amazing "beast".
With good cheer,
Peter
PS Any suggestions as to who can make (alto) Sarrusophone
bocals ?

Tell me more about the jazz-o-sax. I've never heard of such a
beast. Do you have any references on it? Selmer Paris or American? Any
idea of the price he's looking to realize?
Dan Oberloh can likely make an alto sarrusophone bocal, though
it will likely be costly.

Arrgh! Again, I sent that reply to the whole list when it was
meant to go just to Peter. Sorry all.
