This Saturday, February the 19th, The Northwest Clarinet Choir is performing in Seattle, and will feature a solo for BBb Contrabass Clarinet.  The concert will be at 7:30 at Woodland Park United Methodist Church, 302 N. 78th St.  The solo piece is Lucien Cailliet's "Le Pionnier," and I transcribed the piano part so the choir will accompany our contrabass player, Matt Johnston.  We also will be playing Rossini's "Italian in Algiers," "Now Thank We All Our God" by Karg-Elert, Matt's arrangements of the 1st movement from Widor's Symphonie VI, Grainger's "Shepherd's Hey" and "Irish Tune from County Derry," Gary C. White's "Convolutions," and our conductor, William Blayney's arrangement of Mozart's "Ave Verum Corpus."  Get down with that bewegt sound of the Northwest Clarinet Choir.  This will be a free concert, be there!

I wish I could be there, but it's a long way to go even for a free concert.  John  (in S. Fl.)

Picked up a G clarinet in Turkey- It is not for the short of fingers as it  is quite a spread.  It is just scaled up from a Bb. So your little fingers have quite  a way to go.

Well, I don't actually own one, I've just seen them around. There's a shop called Lark In The Morning in Seattle and San Francisco that sells these things (at pretty inflated prices). They should be a lot less expensive in Turkey.

The concert will be recorded, but I don't know how to take a track, like on a cd, and post it as a sound file or mp3 or whatever.  I'm open to suggestions...
