Subject: [CB] Big Horn Recital announcement in Seattle
Date: Wed, 10 Nov 2004 16:01:17 -0800

Here's an upcoming performance that's a little wierd, but it will be fun if you happen to be in the area.

I'm playing bass clarinet and a whole gaggle of saxophones (or is it a flock of saxes? A pod? A Crash? a murder? hmm...) including baritone, bass, contrabass, and subcontrabass.

Hope to see some of you there!

All the best,

Jay

Music for Sax-reeds and Electronic Sounds

Jay C. Easton DMA recital, November 21st, 2004

Brechemin Recital Hall, 1:30pm

University of Washington, Seattle

Free Admission

Jay C. Easton: small, medium, and large saxophones; bass clarinet

In recent decades, a rapidly growing repertoire has appeared for solo instruments paired with prerecorded electronically generated or manipulated sounds. This recital program explores the variety of compositional styles to be found within this repertoire, and consists entirely of pieces in which Adolphe Sax's reed instruments are coupled with analog and digital electronic accompaniment. Don't miss this unique performance that will use the entire saxophone family from sopranino to subcontrabass to demonstrate the fascinating palette of tonal colors available when acoustic reed instruments are combined with sounds created in the electronic realm. Composers whose compositions will be performed include  Christian Lauba, Marie-Hélène Fournier, Dan Gutwein, Mark Engebretson, Igor Korneitchouk, Andreas van Zoelen, Michael Lowenstern, and Jacob ter Veldhuis.

Please feel free to pass this announcement on to others who you feel might be interested in this program.

PS- For those who have already heard about this recital, please note that due to hall availability, the recital time has been changed from 1:00pm to 1:30pm

A snake of saxophones, I think. This applies nicely to both the curved and straight varieties.
