Great Stuff!
How to choose?
Grant's rantings or Dave's ravings?
A message for Grant - why not add a few of your other favorites
versions as well?
A message for Dave - so who created the contrabass
trombone? oh-oh

Subject: [CB] PayPal Worm
There's a new worm that everyone who uses PayPal should know
about. It sends a message purporting to be from PayPal
"confirming" that you've bought a $175 item on eBay and asking you to
click a link to confirm.
The first, and very strong, impulse is to say "I didn't order
anything," and click the link to find out what they're talking
about. Of course, the link is to an HTML page with a new
mechanism. When you load it, special HTML code initiates a
"buffer overflow" (the techies will know what this is) that lets the
remote site take over your computer and send out spam.
It may also have a "phishing" component, in which the tell you
they need your password in order to sort the "problem" out.
Beware anything that says it's from PayPal. I've gotten
several messages recently.
Best regards.

Maniac list addition
Based on
something I recently caught myself doing:
-
You might be a contrabass maniac if you routinely check:
-
Vertical clearance before walking through a doorway
-
Width before walking through a doorway
-
Ceiling height when entering a room
-
Building codes and seismic ordinances before playing a gig
-
You might be... if you have to show up before anyone else to
get in position
-
And you play in a symphony orchestra
-
And you play outdoors
-
Because the [truck, van, big rig, helicopter] carrying
your instrument needs maneuvering room
-
You might be... if tuning your instrument requires:
In the Musical Penalties section, why is playing down an octave
listed as a penalty? It should be a bonus - unless the penalty is just
for showing off... ;-)
