There have been a couple Rothophones on the market over the last year, which look like anorexic saxes, but are actually double-reeds.  These Sarrusaphone-like instruments apparently were also occasionally fitted with single-reed mouthpieces.

http://www.saxpics.com/the_gallery/slideandodd/linton_contrabass_clarinet/  has pictures of a friend's very unusual CB Clarinet in saxophone shape, but with the added feature of "reverse bore taper" in parts of the horn!

This just in: the latest CD by the Kolner Saxophon Mafia, "spaceplayer" (2004 Jazz Haus Musik, JHM 132). I am happy to report that they make good use of the Bb subcontrabass tubax :-) Although the tubax is not as prominent as Vinny Golia's on "A Gift for the Unusual" (which brilliantly features the Eb tubax as a lead instrument), this CD shows its bigger brother to good use in the small ensemble setting (e.g., in octaves with bass clarinet on the opening track). The full instrumentation is: Roger Hanschel (alto, F-mezzo, sopranino saxes); Wollie Kaiser (soprano, tenor saxes; bass clarinet); Joachim Ullrich (tenor sax; clarinet); Steffen Schorn (Bb tubax; bass and contra-alto clarinet; flute, bass flute; tenor, bari & bass saxes) - just four musicians this time.

Twelve tracks, 77 minutes. Lots of interesting harmony and arrangement. Good stuff!

Enjoy,

Grant
