Considering they were originally developed for French military bands, not a bad idea.  Imagine a marching band on parade, with a whole row of gleaming contrabass sarrusophones , marching along in front of the sarrusophones...

The nice thing about contra cases is that you don't have to run very far... ;-)

Subject: [CB] Fwd: Setting Yahoo Groups for "Less Spam, Please!"

Dave Richoux posted this timely warning on the TubaEuph list .  Although the contrabass list is not hosted on Yahoo Groups, and (and I hope this is completely obvious) does not sell addresses or otherwise encourage spam in any way, I'm sure a number of us have subscriptions to yahoo-group-hosted lists.  I was not particularly pleased to check my own yahoo group account, and find that by default they were signing me up for a dozen different types of spam.

Look farther down, and you'll find that they've also signed you up to send you junk mail by post, and for telemarketing if you've entered a telephone number.

Dave, you've done us all a huge favor :-)

Thanks,

Grant

On Ebay: a Selmer rosewood contra(lto?), looks like it needs an overhaul:

Subject: [CB] Bass sax on eBay France

For those of you in France, there's a bass sax up for bid on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3D853961743

This tuba player doesn't know a thing about the item in question, but thought the list might like to know about it.

Best regards,
Chuck
