It is my understanding that Conn never made a contrabass sax but
Evette-Schaeffer, Buffet Crampon and Kohlert did.  In fact, no American
company made a contrabass sax and only two, Conn and Buescher, made a bass
sax.

Evette-Schaeffer is a Buffet name from the 19th century.  Baines notes in
his book Woodwind Instruments and their History that Buffet made at least
one CB saxophone.  He describes it having a tattered reed upon which
generations of visitors to the shop gave a respectful and unsuccessful toot.

Dear Robert,

Thanks for your reply concerning the Evette-Scheaffer (Buffet) CBS!

Dear Ron,

Thanks for your interesting reply. Maybe it was just a rumour that I've
heard that Conn made a contrabass saxophone. Famous is the photo of the Conn
sub contrabass saxophone.

Thanks again,
Friedrich from Holland
