Subject: [CB] stand needed

I hope one of you can help me.  I have decided to join a band with a
friend of mine.  The band has about 5 trombones, 6 trumpets, 2 alto saxes,
one tenor/bari, two guitars, a drummer and a keyboard.  Rehearsals won't
start until sometime this fall.

They'll probably have me switching between my B-flat soprano clarinet,
which I have a stand for, and my E-flat LaBlanc Contra-Alto clarinet,
which is where my problem lies.

I need a stand, and am hoping someone could suggest places to try.  We did
try once, at Woodwind Brasswind (we live close to Indiana that we drove
there).  They told us to modify a bass clarinet stand.  I am not able to
do that, and my husband is just too busy.

Does anyone know where I can get one for my Contra-Alto?  Thanks in advance.

I use a Basson stand with my contra alto. It fils like it was made for it.
The spike on the cobtra fits into a plastic cup on the base and the top rest
is adjustable so it can be put where the keywork is most suitable. I got my
basson stand from my local music shop and the owner got ot off a rep who
called.

The contra-alto is actually about the same height as a
bass clarinet - if the bass is on a peg.  The contra
just reaches the floor without a peg.  Since the bass
clarinet stand will generally accommodate the
instrument on a peg, it will also fit the contra.  I
use a K&M bass clarinet stand for bass, contra-alto,
and bass sarrusophone.
