The revised (new & improved!) Heckelphone repertoire is now up, at
http://www.contrabass.com/pages/heckel-rep.html.  The last set of
changes were in French, so please feel free to proofread and send me
comments!

Here's a curiosity: a Leblanc 342 (low Eb) contrabass in a multiple-section case (i.e., this horn is intended to disassemble daily): see http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=513860972.

The contrabass sax (http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=504879116) is in its final hours, and at $13.4K still hasn't hit the reserve (which I'd guess is at least $20K).

And finally, a Conn bass sax at http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=508628308 that I somehow overlooked earlier.  Day and a half to go, still hasn't hit the reserve...

Subject: [CB] Heckelphone

Dear Grant,
I am altering the price of the Heckelphone somewhat.
It seems hard to justify owning two, beautiful as they may be, so I want to change the price in the classifieds to $17,775.00. Hopefully, someone out in contrabass land will recognize that this is a "fire sale" price compared to the "all up" cost of a new Heckelphone. I am really hoping that you would be able to acquire this instrument if J.T. Chance is finally not able to access his funds.
        With absolutely best wishes,
         Peter Hurd

For Graig:

You are absolutely NOT monopolizing the lost here. Just as
someone said yesterday, they really appreciated hearing all of
this stuff. Besides, I like to talk about it (something I know).

About your bell key problems. Kudos for finding the problem! Now
to specifically identify it! Play with the pinky keys a little
while looking closely at the region. Check for what we call
"lost motion", or play, in the keys. There are one of two things
wrong, I'm guessing, maybe both. Either the cork spacers are too
thin under those keys, or something is bent. In either case,
your repair guy should be able to fix it easily. Two-thirds of
repair work is DIAGNOSIS. Congrats and good luck. Please keep us
posted.
