Noel,
I forget if I've responded to this or not.

There are about 9 companies making Contrabasses.
Originally Contras were pitched both in BBb, & AA. Then some CC's were made.
The most common Contras today are in F w/2 valves. The BBb's (and AA's &
CC's) were made both with one valve and valveless.

Mirafone makes several models of Contra--BBb (no valve), BBb/FF, & the F/C.
Plus they also make a Cimbasso (valved Trombone in F) 4, 5, & 6 valve
models, most of those in F, but I have seen & played a Mirafone Cimbasso in G.

Other companies making Contrabass Trombones:

to name a few.

A friend who has a Selmer large-bell contralto uses a bassoon stand. I use
the same model stand for my low-C bass. I don't remember offhand what
manufacturer makes the model we have, but I could look it up later if you
email me personally. I think it was a german company, name starting with
"M".

Blayman makes a bassoon stand that I use for a bass clarinet.  Available
from WW&BW.

=============================================
Dear Grant,

A thousand thanks for re-formating the Heckelphone music list-  a
huge job to be sure! Would you kindly change the e-mail address  in the
article and list to my new address.
Also, could you perhaps undertake some editing to the list, such as
incorporating the works (3) which Drake Mabry submitted, the suggestions
which Francis Firth kindly sent, and also the Havergal  Symphony #1 and #4,
which a subscriber sent in. People who help in the compilation process
should be acknowledged in a new contributors list at the end of the
repertoire list. Please post in "Contrabass digest"  this letter and the
"lost" message following concerning the "Stengel (Bayreuth)
tenor-oboe" which may in fact be in intent a precursor to the Heckelphone
(Robert Howe knew of this...)
Also, anyone wishing to obtain Heckelphone reeds should contact me!
Do you wish to use the photos currently on Ebay with the
Heckelphone auction for your Heckelphone page? You me wish to download these
ASAP, as Frank needs the space on his site for other things in a day or two.
    With absolutely best wishes,
      Peter Hurd

Ah, the stand to which I refer is the K&M (Konig & Meyer) stand. It's quite
sturdy and heavy.

It's easy to make a velcro strap (using adhesive-backed velcro strips,
available in crafts shops) that will secure your instrument in the top of
the stand, in case you're worried about it tipping out of its own accord.

(item number KM15040 in the WW&BW catalog)
