Yes, this is one reason I try to discourage virus alerts on the list.
Although some (like this one) are true hazards, many are not, and
nearly all of us already get multiple notices of any "outbreak."
This is also why the list is set to strip off binary attachments...

A quick question: did any subscriber here NOT hear about the
virus(es) before they were mentioned on the Contrabass list?

Subject: [CB] Paperclip Leblanc

I have te opportunity to buy a Leblanc Contra model paperclip. Are these models all the same? I know that they now only make the one decending to low C but at the moment Leblanc doesn't take new orders. (I got this info from Braswind & Woodwind)
Older models are not all Low C instruments I thought. How do these older Leblancs  to low Eb ore D, compare to the Low C ones?
Asking price is 4000$. Is this a good price?
Any info is very welcome

Henk-

As you realize, there were some BBb models that did not go to low C.  Be
aware that there are also EEb (Contra Alto) paper clip models.  While you may
want to have an EEb in your collection, there are more parts written for the BBb.

Having the capability to go to low C is probably a good thing.  However, it
is unusual to find a part written below Eb.  I think its greatest value would
be for transposing from a different bass part.

If the one you are considering is a BBb model in good condition, then $4000
sounds like a fair price.  If it goes to low C, it would be even better.
