Matthias Ziegler, "Uakti" (1999, New Albion Records, NA104 CD).  The CD arrived today, and I've been listening to it non-stop ever since.  The CD is solo flutes (with multitracking), with MZ playing a quarter tone flute (Brannen/Kingma), a Matusi flute (by Kaspar Baechi), alto flute (by Eva Kingma), bass flute (Werner Wetzel), and contrabass flute (Kotato & Fukushima).  Pictures on the jewel box and liner notes show him playing the Kotato contra and his older contra.  The tracks are:

All tracks were written by MZ, except for the two Recercada works (by Diego Ortiz).  I'm not sure whether to classify this as avant classical or chamber jazz, but it is enjoyable to listen to.  I managed to find it on CDNow, although it wasn't easy.  If you search on the title, "Uakti", you'll find a page that says "Etty Ben-Zaken & Ensemble Yata : Ladino Love Songs" and lists two CDs with different prices ($12.99 and $15.99).  The second one is MZ, while the cheaper one is apparently Ensemble Yata.  Make sure to check your order before finalizing!

Enjoy,

Grant
