Gerald,

Could you elaborate on what functions the Cucurianu key set adds to a standard bassoon?

All the info i've had on why things vibrate when playing low notes is the
aqueous (vitreous? i can't remember which) humor in your eye, the big
jelly/watery thing in the middle of your eye vibrates with low notes, and
consequently messes up your vision. Refresh rates on computer monitors are
in the 60-80 Hz range. depending on the quality of your particular
monitor. Maybe that has something to do with it, but i doubt it.

This may just be sour grapes, but so be it. I'd say as a whole Wichita's public
relations is suspect, due to some inappropriate treatment I received by them a few years ago.
They haven't apologized, either, even though they've had two blatant opportunities
to do so in the last little while.  They keep reading my "selling instruments"
posts, and not remembering who I am, they repeatedly contact me.
Talk about a lack of common sense!

I just inherited $300,000,000!  Now I can do my dream of the perfect
contrabass orchestra.  No doubling.  I am holding audiotions for the Las
Vegas Contrabass orchestra in November 1998.  Employment will start
January 1999.  I will be paying $30,000/year to each performer.  The
conductor (and assistant conductor) will each receive $40,000/year.
Special music writers will be employed full time at $35,000/year.  We
expect a year around season of 10 months.  Half of this season will be
on the road in southwest USA (mostly Nevada).  Each performer will
receive 2 months vacation during IDRS season.

The orchestra composition will include:

what have I left out?  This is just off the top of my head.  That is 118
pieces.  Anyway, this orchestra will employ 122 performers.  Payroll
will be $4,000,000/year.  We will give it a go for 5 years, then I will
re-assess if America appreciates us.  Contracts will all be for 5 years.
Residency in Clark County Nevada will be necessary.  You will all work
40 hours per week.  Not always playing.  Lots of PR about your
instruments to the youth and public.

I would like some tentative feedback from you on this list about who
would be interested in the positions, so I can figure out my audition
advertising strategy.

Mark

P.S.  April Fools, wouldn't it be nice though   :)

For those who care,www.ebay.com has a Leblanc EEb contra-whatever
clarinet in the woodwind auction section.  Starting bid I believe is set
at $750.  I don't play the things, so I don't know what a reasonable
price is.

You could eliminate 6 of the oboe positions, and both piccolo postions
for a savings of $240,000 per year.  Also, you need a position for at
least one Octo-String bass.
