does anyone know where I can get a chart on the relationship between
notes and wavelength?  Also, when I was messing around on a thumb piano,
I noticed that especially dissonant intervals just felt bad, you could
feel the notes resonating in the instrument and it just felt really
wrong.  Does anyone have any idea why this is?  Thanks...

Subject: Upcoming Contra-fest

I have just returned from England where we met with the Lions Club guys
of Wisconsin.  The upcoming contrafest will definately be in Madison the
2 days before IDRS in August 1999.  Info will only be put out to IDRS
members who have the "contra" indicator on their computer entry in the
IDRS membership computer (for the mailing labels) and to this internet
list.  please spread the word now for your contra friends to get
"attached" to one or both of those by subscribing to the list or joining
IDRS!

The contrabassoon competition is a definite go!

Hi, Everyone;
As an addendum to the above message, I would like to notify those that
ordered a tape from Mark Trinko of last year's Contrafest about a
disturbing matter. I've shelved the project, and was just trying to
stall for time while I thought of an excuse. I just couldn't spend that
much time editing Contra stuff. Sorry about all of this. I really
dislike low-pitched instruments, and I don't know why I even got
involved in this list anyway. Maybe I just needed companionship. Maybe I
just wanted to be involved with others somehow.
Regards,
Steven Lederman

Just kidding.
I thoroughly enjoyed editing the Contrafest, and I'm pleased with the
results. I sent the Master tape and all of the original footage by
AIRMAIL to Mark Trinko a day or two ago. He should have it soon, and
then everyone should have their dubs shortly after that.
I'd appreciate comments and criticisms, in case we get a video going for
next year's Fest. If I don't attend, I'd appreciate hearing from people
who are willing to bring videocameras and record the proceedings while
they're not playing, and having others videotape them when they are
playing.
Regards,
Steven Lederman

Subject: wanted: contrabass clarinet

Hello out there,
I am a recent subscriber, so I'm fairly clueless. In any event, i've been
playing bass clarinet for several years and recently I've decided to go
deeper. I was completely ready to buy a new Vito BBb. So far, every retailer
I've contacted says that there is a 10 to 12 month (!) backorder on this
particular model. Unfortunately for me, the only 'new' contra i could afford
is this particular model (as far as I know). The other bugger is that I'm
moving to Europe in two months, where they would probably be much more
expensive.
So, I'd love to know if anyone has or knows of a used BBb for sale. A second-
hand one seems to be my only hope within these two months, unless, there's
another less expensive brand out there that's more available. Please excuse my
ignorance.
Fill me in!
thanks!
