I know that this may go outside the realm of this list's subject matter,
but I figure it's a reasonable question to ask here. Anthony Braxton seems
to play most of the reeds with a reasonable degree of proficiency. However,
an album I recently purchased, "Conference of the Birds", just lists his
instruments as reeds and doesn't specify which. It seems to me that he's
playing a sopranino sax on "Four Winds" (due to the extreme range and the
lightness of tone) and a contrabass clarinet on one or two of the other
tunes. Does anyone know for sure?
Thanks in advance.

Your right-he's also playing Bb clarinet, alto saxophone, & flute if I
remember correctly. Sam is playing tenor soprano and flute. This was in the
early days were he didn't have so many instruments as now. On other occasions
he played chimes and a set of tuned garbage cans,
