Subject: CD ReviewHi,
Just ran across a nice jazz CD that may be of interest: Betty O'Hara "A
Woman's Intuition" (1997 Sea Breeze Jazz, SB-3025). BO'H alternates
between singing (ballad style, in a nice low alto voice) and playing a
variety of brass in a quintet with piano, guitar, bass and drums. On this
disc she uses trumpet, cornet, flugelhorn, bass trumpet, valve trombone,
and double-bell euphonium. The Tracks (and instruments used in the solos):
- Someone to Watch Over Me (fh, vt)
- Skylark (bt, tp)
- Out Of This World (fl, dbe)
- It's Wonderful (tp, vt)
- More Than You Know (tp)
- Stockholm Sweetnin'/You Leave Me Breathless (fh, vt, tp)
- A Woman's Intuition (vt)
- All Too Soon (bt)
- It's Easy to Remember (fh)
- Mood Indigo (ct, dbe, brass choir with all horns)
- But Not For Me (dbe)
- One For My Baby (dbe)
- A lot of old classics there! A nice CD.Grant
