Sure, Nick, sounds good! It may be next year before they actually get posted....

In a message dated 97-12-23 18:44:43 EST, you write:

<< I have a LeBlanc metal EEb contra-alto clarinet for sale... Excellent condition...with extended range to low C(written)... Price is $3899.00 firm. >>

I wish you luck at that price! The last contra alto that Charles Fail Music in Marietta, Georgia sold fully restored and adjusted sold went for $1,700 because I know the person who bought it. Last year I purchased a LeBlanc hairpin contrabass horn to low C for $2,000 from them also. I'd suggest a more realistic price if you anticipate selling it within your lifetime. FYI, the contra alto of choice among the studio musicians in Los Angeles is the Selmer rosewood.

Anthony Braxton fans:

AB's "Time Zones" with Richard Teitelbaum has been re-released on CD as a compilation with "Silence". Tracks 1 & 2 are "Off The Top of my Head" and "Silence" from Silence, while tracks 3 & 4 are "Crossing" and "Behmoth Dreams" from Time Zones.

Personnel on "Silence" (originally recorded in 1969) is: AB ("reeds & misc instruments"); Leo Smith (tpt "& misc. instruments"); and Leroy Jenkins (violin & "misc. instruments"). Personnel on "Time Zones" (originally recorded in 1976) is: AB (sopranino and alto sax, contrabass clarinet); and Richard Teitelbaum (modular moog and micromoog synthesizers).

A true classic!

Hi all,

This is just a quick note to let you know that starting 12/25, the list will be on full automatic for a week. By that I mean unattended - I won't be anywhere near a computer (at least, not one I can log into) until January 3 or 4. Responses to requests for manual intervention will be somewhat ... delayed. :-) I'll be off trekking through Italy, ending with a visit to the ORSI facility in Milan (assuming I can get in contact with them again...). If all goes well, I'll at least get a few pictures to share, and hopefully maybe a few sound clips (assuming I can remember to bring my deck).

A few notes: subscribers are capable of adding or removing themselves, or changing from digest to immediate (and vice versa), through the web at http://ablewebs.com:1030/guest/RemoteListSummary/Contrabass_L

If you send a post to the list, and you don't see it appear in the digest, chances are that you sent it from an address other than the one you subscribed with. (An easy way to tell is to look at the address that your digest comes to.) If you send a post from a "non-subscribed" address, the list has instructions to sit on it until I go look at it. If all else fails, Scott (scott@securewebs.com) should be able to wade in and fix anything major, but please don't bother him if it can wait.

Ciao!

Grant

A quick request:

Does anyone have the telephone and/or fax number for ORSI in Milan? I haven't received the catalog yet, and would like to confirm my visit next week.

Thanks,

Grant
