Grant writes in digest 106 about Elephant Hotel by Akiko Yano.
It would appear that there is indeed a contrabass flute made by Kotato and played by Keith Underwood on track 4 "The City":

This is taken from a Japanese page about him but this album appears to be released by Sony. There is supposed to be a page about at but I haven't been able to access it:

Two of Robert Dick's recent albums include him playing contrabass flute in C: Aurealis and Instinct while a series of improvised flute/violin duos, Irrefragable Dreams, includes the (sub)bass flute in F. I got them both direct from Robert Dick himself in Switzerland after he posted his details up on the Flute Mailing list.

There is also an older (1988?) CD by Michael Heupel
called Flute News in which he plays piccolo,
alto, bass and subcontrabass flutes. The subcontrabass is
called SKB Slap but is different from the one on the
discography which he played at the European Flute Festival
and mainly used 'pizzacato' key click effects. I got it from
a French Internet Book/Audio/Video shop at
