I didn't see anywhere in the digests that the question "what's
a cimbasso?" was answered. The cimbasso is a low valved brass, typically
scored for in Italian opera. It's a true bass valve trombone, keyed in

I'd like to send you the photo published last month by the biggest German newspaper (the Bildzeitung) during the Music Fair of Frankfurt. It shows Mr. Perin, the owner of Orsi with the contrabass saxophone.

Mr. Perin told me, that we may still have one antique contrabass oboe in our collection. If we really do, we could record some notes and send them to you, so you could hear how it sounds.
Yesterday I have been at Orsi and saw that we still have this instrument in our collection. We call ist C o n t r a b a s s S a r r u s o p h o n e with double-reed. The neck of the instrument is not exactly the same as shown in your photo. Since the instrument shown in your home page does not have keys we thought about making a photo of the one we have and send it to you.
This will not happan before two weeks since next week I'm going to be in Germany.
By the way, this instrument is still in our price list.
As soon as I get to it, I'll send the pic.
