Subject: [CB] Horns!
Hi,
Just returned from a week away. Tahiti, actually: a couple of
good friends are celebrating their 40th anniversary with a cruise
through French Polynesia. We couldn't stay for the cruise, but joined
them on Tahiti for a few days. Pictures at
http://photos.yahoo.com/contrabs,
see the album "2005 Tahiti". Wind instruments seem to be in short
supply there (didn't see
any),
and washtub bass (literally) was the lowest instrument I saw. However,
there were other things to do... ;-)
My wife and I began discussing the heckelphone (and brass sale)
on the flight over. Here I discovered that (a) she didn't realize that
the ophicleide was a brass instrument (because it had keys), and (b)
she would be very upset if I sold it. She considers it her gift to me,
and a memento of our trip to Paris. So, with many apologies to those of
you who were interested in the ophicleide, I must remove it from the
table. It has not been sold. Truly, I am sorry to disappoint you (and
there were quite a few inquiries on the ophicleide), although I have to
admit I am happy to be able to keep the horn.
The remaining horns are all still for sale. I haven't yet
photographed the King alto sax, or the Bundy bass clarinet, but there
are also still for sale. I have two Bundy basses, one of which my
daughter uses for school: I just have to find out which is which...
Also have to make sure that the King didn't wander off to college with
one of my daughters.
I live in Los Altos, and work in Palo Alto (California). If
anyone is interested in having a look (or honk) on the horns, please
contact me and we should be able to work out a time. It would probably
be helpful for everyone who's interested if a real brass player had a chance to
evaluate the lot.
Enjoy,
Grant

Subject: [CB] Straight Baritone Saxophone in Production
Date: Mon, 24 Jan 2005 17:34:23 -0800
Hello to all,
I just recently returned from the NAMM show
in Anaheim CA. The CEO of LA Sax has agreed to investigate the
possibility of re-creating the STRAIGHT BARITONE
SAXOPHONE I plan to purchase one, this will be a custom
handmade insrtument, and if there is a true interest there will be a
small production of perhaps a dozen. If there is any interest please
e-mail me. It can be custom finished to any color or design of
your choice. We will have a price estimate sometime in March or
April. Once again, this will be a very limited production
saxophone, it will be about 6' long! If you or any of your
friends are interested, please contact me. I have agreed to compile a
list of perspective buyers~
