Good points.  In those cases where someone insists on meeting you in a public place and won't give you a name, I think you're right to be suspicious.  Still, bear in mind that it's possible the seller is suspicious of you, too.  Someone who owns valuables, who hasn't ever "met" you online in an e-mail group such as this one, may be afraid you're a thief trying to case his/her house, or even someone who might pull off an armed robbery or a rape right there on the spot.  That's especially true for women and for elderly people.  I think the genuine horror stories are exceedingly rare, but when they happen, they land on the front pages of newspapers nationwide and they scare the hell out of some of us.  I don't use eBay, but I'm much more likely to sell something at the local auction than I am to run a newspaper ad that will bring strangers into my home.

Anybody,
There has been an E.B.Winston contra bassoon on Ebay forever.  Little info and a catalogue photo of a standard instrument.  Is there such a thing as a Winston contra?  Who REALLY makes it?  I imagine it must rank down there with Amati.

Thanx,
