Just like theology (try using the term "genus maiestaticum" in a
sentence), when one doesn't use music theory terms often enough, one
forgets them!
So on to my question: Besides "tempered" (think Bach's
"Wohltempiert Klavier"), what are the other intonation systems used in
music -- I'm thinking primarily Western music -- and what are the
characteristics of them? For example, "raise the leading tone",
etc.
Sorry so vague on my question, but 20+ years of not using many
of these terms has given me that "deer-in-the-headlights" look...
Thanks in advance!

The Japanese piano makers employ "just-in-time" manufacturing
techniques to help keep costs down and remain competitive. To keep the
cost of tuning down they employ a system called "just intonation". Just
kidding.
