Once again, the sound of saxophones en masse playing Christmas carols will be heard in San Jose.  Ray Bernd is again organizing the Saxophone Christmas event, now scheduled for December 15.  It looks like I *will* be able to get this into my schedule: any other sarrusophones or contrabass saxes want to joint me?  The schedule goes something like: rehearsal from 10-noon; 1st performance in the park ("Christmas in the Park") on North 1st St., San Jose at 2 PM; 2nd (and last) performance at Eastridge Mall (also San Jose) at 5 PM. The performances are about an hour long, and the indoor mall performance is typically recorded.  In the past, Ray has often gotten a student to play his Conn sarrusophone, but the two of us could use a little help cutting through the several basses and several dozen baritones...

Enjoy!

On the subject of performances - Fred Dart will conduct the third annual Royal Palm Beach (Fl) Tuba fest on Sunday evening Dec 9th at the Cultural Center. Any and all wandering tubas (and baritones) are welcome. I had planned to take my BB Contra clarinet,(as an honorary Tuba), but unfortunately the Symphonic Band of the Palm Beaches is performing at a different location at the same time.  This is also my annual invitation to any vacationing in this area (Palm Beach County) to come by and visit a rehearsal of any (or all ) of the 3 community bands I happen to play with.
