Given how many folks have bid, can I assume that some sort
of sax mpc will fit the beast?

And they had the nerve to call it 'huge'.  I was expecting
something more contra like.

cheers

Dunno about that, but I can say that it looks like a much better-made
instrument than the two Tarogatos I tried in Lark-in-the-Morning's San
Francisco store.

Huge it isn't...  Still, a fun instrument to play.  A soprano sax mpc
will probably work, or can be made to work.  Stephen Fox also makes
tarogatos, apparently with a traditional mpc (see
http://www.sfoxclarinets.com/Tarogato.html) - perhaps he'll sell the
mpc by itself.

Enjoy!

"The current issue of the Double Reed (vol. 24.3, 2001) has Michel
Jolivet's sarrusophone translation - this time published correctly,
as well as a picture of an oboist playing Guntram Wolf's new "contra
forte"."

What would it cost to obtain ONE issue of this publication??

For anyone who was interested, the Morton contrabassophone was
auctioned at Sotheby's this morning for 5280 pounds (about US$7450).

I wonder who has it now?

I suppose someone could have Sotheby's forward an invitation to join
Contrabass.com, right?
