Dear Grant and fellow bass-o-philes,
I imagine that "straight octavin" may be an oxymoron. I am most curious to see the photos when this instrument is relisted. I can only speculate from the verbal desciption as it was related to me over the telephone.
Single reed, not sax, not clarinet, not oboe sax, not taragato. Perhaps this was an experimental instrument of some kind.
