Subject: [CB] CD Review

Here's another new CD, just received last week: Peter Friis Nielsen & Christian Kyhl "Ping Pong" (1999 AV-ART Records, AV CD-1007).  This is a 2-CD set full of short improvisations, "Red 1-25" is disc 1, while "Blue 1-35" is disc 2.  PFN plays electric basses throughout, while CK plays saxophones (sopranino, C soprano, alto, C melody, bari), clarinets (Eb, C, alto, contra-alto), flutes (picc, Eb soprano, C, bass), and oboe: he plays saxes only on disc 1, and everything else on disc 2.

Lots of great, free jazz.  These two have apparently been playing together for a long time, and improvise well.  But don't expect any recognizable tunes... ;-)
