Can anyone give me a manufacturing date on Selmer Bass clarinet D5499?

Thanks,

Robert-

I checked the Selmer serial number list at
http://www.sneezy.org/clarinet/Equipment/HowOld/, but didn't find any "D"
series numbers listed.  Their list ends with the start of the "A" series in
1978.  I suppose there might be a recent "D" series that hasn't been entered
into the list yet.  Does yours look rather new?

If no one else here has better information, you might find success by asking
your question on The Clarinet Bulletin Board,
http://www.sneezy.org/clarinet/BBoard/list.html.

Lars Kirmser's "Music Trader" site has a number of serial number lists, including one for Selmer products.  Unfortunately, under clarinets the earliest series listed is "L1000" (1931), and the latest is "Z5200" (1977).

The Woodwind Shop has a table that goes up to the "B" series (1980-81).  The D series may be 1984-85 (the last few series seem to be two years per letter).
