Not exactly "contra", but I finally got around to assembling a small page regarding shawms. See http://www.contrabass.com/pages/shawms.html, for a few pictures of soprano/alto/tenor shawms, and a few honking notes on my extended range tenor, down to G2 - a step below the heckelphone, but without the refinement ;-)
