Spencer,
I think my biggest concern would be getting a deposit on the instrument in case of "injury" to the horn.  As far as rent is concerned what do music in your area charge?  Is it a student who will be using the instrument or a prof?  I think you are brave and generous to consider such a proposition.  Personally I am a lot more possessive of my instruments than you I guess.

I understand about the "injury" to the instrument, but I'm not really sure what to do about that yet. The college is not far from me so transportation is not really an issue.  I asked a local music shop that rents and fixes horns and has lessons (Evanston Band and Orchestra and The Saxophone Shop), and they said that if they rented bari's (I know it's a bass), they would charge $131 for 3 months.  Not too much for a student like me. It is not a student who will be using it.  He is a professional who is affiliated with the school.  I'm not using the sax right now in anything, so I'm cool with letting them use it, and I know the guy who would be playing it.  He alright.  I would be glad to hear anymore thoughts from anybody.

True, I do NOT loan nor rent any of mine out.

That's totally understandable considering your collection.
