Subject: [CB] Cheap sousaphone!

Just noticed a Conn sousaphone about to go *very* cheaply on ebay:
see http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=439624751.
At this point, it has 2 1/2 hours left, the bid is only $218, and the
reserve is already met.  Anyone looking for low brass?

Michel Jolivet asks about sarrusophone reeds.

Actually, i read some time ago that the soprano takes an oboe d'amore reed.

FWIW...

Speaking of sarrusaphones, has anyone ever heard that piece,
Holbrooke's *Apollo and the Seaman*, that Forsythe uses as an example
for both sarrusaphones and saxophones?  Is there a recording?

Wow!

Looks like an Eb Contra with a Bbb Contra mp. Not a normally shaped Contra
Clarinet at all, in either straight or bent. Looks like it started out life
as a Sarr & the maker changed his mind????

Of course if the seller is not a musician, he may not undertamd the term:
ContraALTO!

Subject: [CB] Nuclear Whales sheet music

Thanks to a message on the "klarinet" bulletin board, I just visited the
recently revamped Nuclear Whales site,

http://www.nuclearwhales.com

which now offers sheet music.  Some scores include bass sax and even
contrabass!  If you go to the "Cool Stuff" section, there's also a picture of
Bill Clinton looking at the contrabass sax, that links to another picture of
Clinton *playing* the contrabass.

Cheers--
Lelia
