Subject: [CB] F mezzo-soprano mouthpiece
Date: Sun,  4 Jun 2000 05:45:33 PST

Hello everyody,
after a few years of research, I was recently able to buy a Conn F mezzo-soprano.
No mouthpiece came with it, so I bought an odd sized mouthpiece from a
vintage sax 'specialist' supposed to work on the horn...the results are ok
but not great, I have a strong feeling that the overall performance of the
instrument would be greatly improved with the 'right' equipment.
Any ideas, opinions, names, leads? I'm totally in the dark...in F!
BTW Grant, I think you're doing a great job in keeping up this list as
effective and 'spam-free' as possible.
*I* don't mind the occasional 'stoopid' messages and no, I don't need
anything to improve my health or sexual potency, thank you.:-)
All grammar, spelling and overall 'formal' mistakes in the English language
are my responsibility only...

Thanks

Alberto

I just sold a metal F-Mezzo #4 on ebay for around $65. which played better
in tune than trying to use a n Eb but the nice thing although the lay was
shorter than than an Ef and the mpc was 2 - 3 cm shorter overall it
accepted Eb reeds. However it did not play as well in tune as the stock
conn but sounded a whole lot better.

In so far as your English and spelling it is actually better than mine this
being a very clear day for me. But trust me when I tell you I have had
items on ebay that were desireable enough to have me get emails in
language/fonts that came through as total jibberish, and one time I even
recieved a money order for 48.40 in Columbian Pesos instead of dollars...

But as bad as my English is there is always somebody worse... so as long as
the thought police and well-to-do Grammar and Spelling busy-bees don't
notice, I'm safe. When they mention it to me on the list I'll drop a
well-placed hint about how I feel about it in an on-topic post.

But if they're joking that's something else. I can joke about my dyslexia
*and* my piss poor spelling... oops.. I typed the *piss* - just enough to
get me kicked off of the list?
Online is getting to be a scary place - my ads removed from ebay and
banished to the adult hard core section for using a 4-letter word that
described solid biological waste product in most definitions. I suppose
crap is acceptable. I'm afraid younger generations are becoming stiff and
boring. It's a good thing the life expectancy is increasing otherwise they
might not reach a ripe old age to loosen up.

Odly, I'm about 1/2 way to Contrabass-time all thanks to eBay... I would
have never been able to sell my stuff for much more than junk without it..
and of course I have all this other stuff my newphew was throwing away
which is selling like hotcakes.

"It's strange how America calls itself the "home of the free" when many
"Americans" try and dictate popular politically correct opinion and "their
own" views by using negative words seemingly prescribed by the media to
huddle a mass of opposition to your free speech and humour. It's like they
need to reaffirm their view by  the acceptance of someone else agreeing
with them. People are afraid of what they do not like or see on the
television especially if it goes against the grain or is something they do
not fully understand. Email only amplifies it."

Subject: [CB] mouthpiece case?

I was wondering, has anyone ever seen for sale something along the lines of
a small rigid case for a bass clarinet mouthpiece? I just bought a wooden
mouthpiece and I don't want it to get scratched or chipped rattling around
in my case.

(Also, does anyone have advice for ligatures which would be gentler to a
wooden mouthpiece, or other advice for the care and upkeep thereof? :-)
