what key is that instrument in by the way?
              Ab
              A
              Bb
              B
              C
              Db
              D
              Eb
              E
              F
              Gb
              G

Hey why are instruments said to be in the flat keys and not in their
              sharps(Eb=D#)?
Anyone ever hear of a saxophone in D#?

Perhaps because the corresponding sharp keys are so sharp that they are
unused - e.g. D# major has 9 sharps. You certainly see clarinets in,
for example, A (3 sharps). When I was first learning bass clef
for the trombone (I was originally taught in brass band treble clef), I
would consciously transpose it into treble clef - add two sharps and move
it about, adjusting concert pitch E and B accidentals. Normally, this was
okay, but I was completely stuck for a while with a study in 7 sharps
(which became 9). Those damn F and C double sharps in the key signature!

Oh well.... I tried to leave some appropriate "positive feedback" for the instrument
seller, but eBay's changed the rules and made feedback posting impossible unless you
have a valid transaction # between the two sellers specified. I imagine that's a
good thing, so folks can't load up on their own feedback. Here's the feedback I was
GOING to leave;

Tom,
Why don't you join the Double Bass list at
http://www.onelist.com/group/DoubleBass/ ? We need some more members and the
posts are quite infrequent so we won't clog up your mail Box. I think the
people there will be quite grateful for your information.

Subject: [CB] reeds for sale
Reply-To: contrabass@contrabass.com

Hello,
I am selling a box of contra-bass clarinet reeds that were sent instead of
bass clarinet reeds.  Anyway, there are 25 in the box (I apologize that I
opened the box but I wasn't sure what they had sent).  They are Charpens,
which I use almost exclusively.  The strength is a 3 1/2.  I would put them
somewhere between a medium and a medium hard reed.

I am asking $50.  I assume each reed would be $3 to $3.50 if purchased
singly.  If you are interested please email me.

Thanks,
Jean
