I noticed there is an auction on eBay for what appears to be a straight
LeBlanc contra to low Eb.  It's at

http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=262097762

Looks to be in good shape.  When I checked, the current bid was at $2250,
but the reserve hadn't been met yet.

Thanbks Eric,

My intent is to get the Leblanc and sell it (even at loss) when the Selmer
comes in. I have waited my thirteen years it's time to make up for lost
time. I'm not even sure how old I am :-)... I hesitate and have to think
about it. So I don't answer. I wasted too much time repairing other
people's instruments being the "unknown sideman' behind the bench, doing
all the work, getting half the pay - just so I can play.

The metal one will do for the Spring If I can get it. Who knows what the
resere is.

Leblanc is moving production, true, but mayt be retooling for wood in
France (just a geuss). It is either that or they will remain the
intermediate instrument when once they were the premier basses.

Anyone I know who has selmer basses seem exceedingly content. I have heard
nothing but good things about them so who knows how long the wait will be
60 or 120 or 180 days. That's a long wait after you realize you've been
burning your fingers with shellac instead of on the keys ;-)

Cheers,

Leo

Subject: New Double Bass E-mail List
Reply-To: contrabass@contrabass.com

Hi,
I've just started a new double bass e-mail list at onelist. I thought that a
couple of you might be interested in joining. The list is located at
http://www.onelist.com/groups/doublebass (if this doesn't work its under Arts
and then Music). It is set up to discuss all aspects of double bass playing
from Classical to Jazz or Acoustic to Electric. If you want any further info
please e-mail me back at ArcLucifer@aol.com
