The millennium is not bull ok.

and it does begin in the year 2000.

All you other nuts out there who think it begins in 2001 are just plain
stupid, wacked,
or high on something.

Think about it year 2000. A millennium is 1000 years not 999.5 years.

Well, what they are saying is that at the beginning of 2000, it will only be
1999 years since Year 1 AD.   Imagine music. If someone tells you to play 100
measures, you don't stop at the beginning of #100, but play until the end of
#100, or the beginning of #101.  Same thing.   But i do sorta agree with you.
I think they should just turn the year 1 BC (or BCE) into 0 AD, move all BC
dates up one, and forget about it all.  Never the less, i will be partying
this new year more so than any other new year.  Hope this helps.

Well, your logic is not consistent.  Your conclusion is not
consistent with the argument.

Yes, millennium means 1,000 years and century means
100 years.
But, we start counting at 1 not 0 (there is no year 0).
The first millennium is years 1 through and including 1000
(1000 total).  The second millennium is 1001 through 2000
(1000 total).  The third millennium is 2001 through 3000.

I don't know why people do not want to get this right now.  In the
1960's, the science fiction film "2001 Space Odyssey" even
had it right.  The title and story were to reflect the dawn of the
new century.  Of course, it was a different generation who wrote
and produced that 35 years ago.

To turn the discussion back to music and counting:  Perhaps
musicians cannot count.  Why is it called an octave (for the
Latin for eight) when there are 7 whole notes and 12 semi-tone
in an octave?

Regards,

Bob

For the brass collectors:

There is an old Besson 5 valve non-comp euphonium on Ebay.
